Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Keiren Westwood returned to the international set up for the Republic of Ireland on Sunday afternoon, starting the friendly fixture against England in Dublin.
The 30-year-old stopper made his 18th appearance for EIRE and kept a clean sheet for 60 minutes before being replaced by Shay Given as the fixture was played out to a tame 0-0 draw.
In truth it was a fairly easy outing for the Owls number one as England failed to register a single shot on target in the first-half. He was tested by a Wayne Rooney free-kick after half-time but that was a pretty routine save. Wetwood looked composed and calm on his return to international action, providing his back for with leadership and displaying accurate distribution.
The cap was deserved reward for his fine season in the Championship and he will be hoping for more of the same in 2015/16.
