Goalkeeper Chris Adamson, left-back John Hills, midfielder Steve Adams, forward Barry Corr and young defender Andy Broadbent have been told that they are not part of Brian Laws' plans.
Adamson has only made 12 appearances for the club since the 2004/05 season and he never got a look in during his time at Hillsborough - with managers Paul Sturrock and Laws preferring to use loan goalkeepers instead of the 28-year-old.
Hills, who suffered terribly through injuries was brought in under Paul Sturrock and did well when called upon on the left-hand side although Laws believes that Tommy Spurr and Peter Gilbert are more suited to the rigours of championship football.
Adams likewise also spent more time on the treatment table than on the pitch since Sturrock brought him north from Plymouth Argyle and the defensive midfielder never really got a decent run in the team.
Corr was brought in by Sturrock and led the line well on some occasions but never scored for Wednesday and went on loan to both Bristol City and Swindon where it is expected that his old boss will keep him.
Speaking to both Hills and Adams especially in the last few weeks, the duo wanted to stay at Hillsborough but did not overly expect to; both had been fit for over two months but hardly got a look in at S6 - a real shame as they were quality guys. Best of luck to all.
