Sheffield Wednesday’s search for an additional loan striker reached a positive conclusion today as Mamady Sidibe moved to Hillsborough on a 1-month deal.
The Stoke City striker has made close to 50 appearances in the Premier League but has struggled to get a look in for Tony Pulis’ side recently though this has been due in the main to serious knee and achilles injuries.
Sidibe is a tall, powerful forward who makes life hard for opposing defenders but his goal scoring record is not prolific. The Mali international scored 3 goals in 22 appearances during 2008/09 and 2 goals in 30 matches the following season. Since then his injuries have restricted him to just 2 first team appearances, he did not feature at all last season and is yet to play a first team game during the current campaign.
He is eligible to make his Owls debut against Leicester at Hillsborough on Saturday and is likely to go straight into the squad.
