Sheffield Wednesday have moved to add to their defensive ranks ahead of the transfer deadline by signing French defender Claude Dielna.

Dielna has played most of his football in France, coming to prominance in 2008/09 when he helped Istres to win the equivalent of the English 3rd division. His performances then attracted interest from Greek giants Olympiacos who signed him in 2012. Dielna struggled to make an impression in Greece and spent the past two seasons on loan back in France. In 2012/13 he featured for Frech 2nd division strugglers Sedan and last season he played for AC Ajaccio in the top flight, though the club ended the season bottom of the table.

Dielna, who can play at centre-back or left-back, has signed a 3-year deal at Hillsborough.

Stuart Gray added to his attacking options on Friday by bringing in Everton youngster Hallam Hope on a youth loan until January. Hope made his debut as a substitute in the narrow 1-0 defeat to table topppers Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
