Having signed Seye Olofinjana yesterday Sheffield Wednesday have added more quality to their line up ahead of the loan transfer deadline by acquiring the services of Stuart Holden.
Holden joins from Bolton Wanderers on a 4-week deal and could feature against Barnsley at Hillsborough on Saturday. The midfielder has been offered a contract extension by Wanderers and has been informed that he is a key part of their future plans. However, having been sidelined by a serious knee injury recently he is need of games to improve his match fitness and he is more likely to get a sustained run in the Wednesday side as things stand.
Holden is clearly a player of some pedigree having won Bolton's player of the year award in 2010/11 when they finished 7th in the Premier League. His knee injury has restricted him to a handful of games over the past 2 seasons and this was highlighted as a significant contributing factor in Bolton's relegation last season.
The 26-year-old had established himself in the USA national squad prior to his injury and he represented his country at the 2010 World Cup.
