Owls seek home comforts

Sheffield Wednesday play host to Huddersfield Town on Wednesday evening as they look to get their Championship campaign back on course following two successive away defeats.

Having seen his side concede 3 goals in Friday’s defeat at Brighton Dave Jones could make changes to his defence. Left-back Reda Johnson has recently returned to training having missed the last two matches and centre-back Anthony Gardner could also return after a longer spell on the sidelines. Right-back Lewis Buxton will again miss out due to a hamstring injury.

On-loan Everton midfielder Ross Barkley is in line to make his home debut as is striker Jay Bothroyd. The 2nd striker spot is up for grabs with the likes of Rodri, Chris O’Grady and Gary Madine all in contention.

Like the Owls, Huddersfield have made a number of new signings during the summer following their promotion from League One. The midfield has almost totally changed since the two clubs met at the back end of last season and the likes of Oliver Norwood, Adam Clayton, Adam Hammill and Keith Southern are all likely to feature against the Owls. Norwich striker James Vaughan has also been brought in on loan.

After defeats at Palace and Brighton Wednesday will hope they continue their fine home form which has seen them beat Birmingham and Millwall in the league this season, both with a 3-2 score line.

Huddersfield sold star striker Jordan Rhodes to Blackburn late in the transfer window but responded well by beating Derby at the weekend.

Wednesday won 2-0 at Huddersfield in April, a vital result on their run to automatic promotion. The corresponding fixture at Hillsborough last season resulted in a thrilling 4-4 draw in December with Rhodes netting all of the visitors goals.
