Sheffield Wednesday have today confirmed that 8 players have been released and won't be offered new deals following the expiry of their current contracts this summer.
As has already been reported on owls-mad, long serving winger Jermaine Johnson and popular defender Reda Johnson are the 2 most high-profile departures.
Along with the Johnson's, goalkeepers Adam Davies and Arron Jameson will leave, as will central defenders Anthony Gardner, Miguel Llera and Martin Taylor. Experienced midfielder David Prutton completes the list.
Davies and Jameson have never really had a look in as far as regular first team opportunities are concerned.
Anthony Gardner looked assured last season but has hardly played this season due to injury, an issue which has hampered his career as a whole.
Miguel Llera has been a good member of the Owls squad for 3 seasons and played a key role in the 2011/12 promotion season but towards the end of the current campaign it has appeared that time has maybe caught up with him in terms of playing at this level on a regular basis.
Martin Taylor was signed last season by Dave Jones and his time at Hillsborough has been very disappointing. He spent a spell on loan at Brentford and has rarely had a look in under Stuart Gray.
David Prutton has been a popular figure in and around the dressing room and is another that made a good contribution in the League One promotion campaign. Having initially been frozen out and sent on loan by Dave Jones in 2012/13 he returned to play a key role in the Owls upturn in form in the second half of that season. Injuries have seen him play little more than a bit-part this season and he is another player for whom it is probably the right time to move on.
