Owls recieve loan boost

The duo, signed last week from Sunderland and Derby respectfully, played a key part in Wednesday's win at the weekend - their first of what has been a torrid league season so far.

Prior to Saturday's victory over Hull, The Owls have only found joy in the League Cup with hard-fought victories over Hartlepool and Rotherham United.

The addition of Kavanagh, whose midfield dominance gave Wednesday some quality in the engine room, and man-of-the-match Johnson to the squad to face a quality Everton side, will be much needed as Wednesday look to progress in a difficult home game.

Meanwhile, chief executive Kaven Walker has laughed off reports over the weekend that Wednesday are set for administration.

He told the BBC: "The chairman (Dave Allen) has always stated it's something he'd not be involved in. He lives in Sheffield, his businesses are in Sheffield, he values the shareholders' shareholding.

"He would not do to the shareholders as other people have done in football - he has said that on many occasions. And I'm sure that the gaming board wouldn't take a very good view of it either but it's not something that he's ever contemplated or even been remotely interested in discussing."
