Owls receive pitiful ticket allocation from city rivals

Many Sheffield Wednesday fans hoping to make the short trip to S2 for the second Sheffield derby of the season next month are likely to be disappointed.
This is because their local rivals have allocated just 3,000 tickets to Owls fans for the Coca-Cola Championship clash on Saturday February 16th.
Wednesday fans had become accustomed to filling the whole of the Bramall Lane stand at the blades ground for competitive derby fixtures and the reasoning behind allocating just the bottom tier to away supporters for this clash is unclear. While this has generally been the case at Bramall lane of late, it is rare that visiting clubs sell this many tickets but this will not be a problem for Wednesday. Tickets for the upper tier and adjoining corner of this stand are not being sold until the rest of the ground is sold out but these are presumed to then be going to home supporters. Even in the unlikely event that these tickets are given to the Owls the small initial supply will have caused the inconvenience and uncertainty of applying by post only for tickets.
Although the Owls home attendances have been down slightly compared with last season they still take one of the biggest followings in the league to most away games and even more so locally where last season Wednesday took almost three times the amount on offer from United to Oakwell for the game against Barnsley.
Tickets will be sold on receipt of postal applications only with priority initially given to season ticket holders who have also attended at least four away matches this season.
