Sheffield Wednesday misfit Lewis McGugan has been handed a trial at fellow Championship club Cardiff City according to reports.
The former Nottingham Forest attacking midfielder signed for Wednesday on loan during the 2014-15 season and after 2 successful short spells he became one of the first permanent signings of chairman Dejphon Chansiri’s era. Since then however things haven’t worked out for the former Nottingham Forest ace as his chances under manager Carlos Carvalhal have dwindled. The 28-year-old didn’t feature at all in the Championship last season and this training spell at Cardiff looks like it will result in him missing the Owls pre-season training camp in Portugal for the 2nd season in succession.
McGugan looks set to spend the next couple of weeks training with the Welsh club as former Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock runs the rule on a number of potential signings. The Owls paid around £300,000 for McGugan and with 12-months still remaining on his contract they will be looking for a fee should any interest develop further.
