Sheffield Wednesday make the long trip to Yeovil in League One on Saturday as they continue to search for their first away win of the season on the back of Tuesday’s nightmare 5-1 defeat at Stevenage.
Gary Megson has added to his squad since the midweek debacle by signing Nottingham forest striker David McGoldrick on a one-month loan deal and he is expected to be included in the squad. Captain Rob Jones, left-back Julian Bennett and central midfielder David Prutton were hauled off at half-time on Tuesday with Wednesday already 4-0 down at that stage and it remains to be seen whether they will be included in the starting line-up.
Winger Jermaine Johnson will play no part in the fixture at Huish Park as he starts a suspension after receiving a straight red card in the closing stages of the match at Stevenage.
The home side will be looking to former Wednesday favourite Steven MacLean to pile more away day misery on his old club. The Scottish striker, who bagged 20 goals in the Owls 2004/05 promotion season, has scored twice for the Glovers in 6 starts this season.
Yeovil have been dealt a blow with the news that midfielder Gavin Williams faces months on the side lines having suffered knee ligament damage in the recent defeat at Preston. Strikers Andy Williams and Jonathan Obika are also likely to miss out due to injury and midfielder Paul Wotton is suspended for the visit of the inconsistent Owls as Yeovil look to build on a solid if unspectacular start.
The Glovers have won 2, drawn 2 and lost 4 league games so far this season from a tough start that has included fixtures against promotion hopefuls Sheffield United, Preston and MK Dons. Both of their victories have come on home soil against Oldham and Wycombe.
Despite their excellent home form Wednesday have picked up just 1 point from 4 away games in the league this season and have also lost 2 cup games on their travels. The Owls have not kept a clean sheet in the league since the opening day of the campaign.
The two sides have only met competitively on 4 occasions with Yeovil yet to win a game. Last season was the first time that they had faced each other in the league and Wednesday won 2-0 at Huish Park but were held to a 2-2 draw at Hillsborough despite the visitors being reduced to 9 men.
