While Brian Laws' men just missed out on a place in the play-offs, the Ladies won the Northern Combination Championship to return to the Northern Premiership coupled with a stunning Sheffield & Hallam County FA Women's Challenge Cup triumph over Doncaster Belles.

First-team manager Daniel Duke, who shared responsibilities last season with Christine McCann, believes their achievements deserve praise.

He told Footymad: "All the squad including players and staff are extremely proud of this year's achievements and it's due to the hard work and commitment of everyone involved with the squad.

"We are very lucky we have a talented an greatly experience squad at our disposal, the technical ability of our squad is very high and it can get frustrating that women's football gets overlooked and if football fans came to any one of our games I think they would be pleasantly surprised at the skill level and organisation of my players."

There is no doubting the quality in the squad and they will be looking to do more than just make up the numbers next season and have high hopes for a successful campaign.

Duke added: "In my current squad, I have four players with international caps - two of which were England scholars at the FA Women's National development centre, it will be a challenge playing back at the highest level of women's football but its a challenge that we all will relish.

"Jane Simpson was the player's player of the year while Rachel Skeemer was the manager's player of the year. Also we had a number of players which were influential through the season like Liz Gomersall and Leanne Severns who have both had an excellent seasons - Skeemer and Sarah Smith have forged a formidable relationship upfront."

But despite a fantastic season, their achievements still go widely unnoticed and now they are looking for potential sponsors to help them out for the 2007/08 season.

The club are asking for any potential sponsors who want to help the team out to come forward and contact club secretary Ian Maslin on 07980 996896 or click here to email for more details.
