Sheffield Wednesday face play-off hopefuls Brighton at Hillsborough on Saturday and will looking to reproduce their recent impressive away form back at Hillsborough.
Transfer deadline day was fairly quiet for the Owls with most of the work having already been done earlier in the transfer window. The one departure of note saw striker Chris O’Grady join local rivals Barnsley on loan for the remainder of the season.
Last weeks new signings Danny Pugh and Leroy Lita will be hoping to make their home debuts. Pugh started the match at Charlton last weekend and Lita made an instant impact as substitute when he scored the late winner so he will be in contention for a start on Saturday.
Wednesday have also been boosted by the return of Manchester City youngster Jeremy Helan. The Frenchman’s recent loan spell at S6 was a success and he will also be pushing for a place in the first 11.
Brighton clinched the signing of experienced former Arsenal centre-back Matthew Upson on loan from Stoke City until the end of the season and he is likely to make his Seagulls debut at Hillsborough.
Gus Poyet’s side were narrowly beaten in the F.A. Cup by Arsenal last weekend in a game that saw Argentinean striker Leonardo Ulloa score on his debut. The former Almeria striker could make his league debut against the Owls.
Wednesday come into the game having lost just 1 of the last 8 league games. They have won 5 of these matches but 4 of these victories have come away from Hillsborough.
After losing at home to Watford at the end of December Brighton have won 2 and lost 2 in the Championship, they have not lost in their last 4 away fixtures either.
Wednesday suffered a comprehensive 3-0 defeat at Brighton back in September and will be keen to improve on that lacklustre performance against the Seagulls.
