Sheffield Wednesday will return to action following a week off for the international fixtures with seemingly little to play for in terms of their league position.
The Owls currently sit in 13th place in the Coca Cola Championship with 51 points, 12 points of the play-off places and 10 points above the relegation zone.
With just six games to go the chances of a play-off push have disappeared of late but barring a disastrous run of results the relegation worries that dogged the club up until the last game of last season should not be an issue either.
Recent results have been inconsistent at best and Wednesday have not won any of their last five league fixtures as it seems the season is fizzling out but this should not be allowed to happen.
At the very least everyone involved in the club should have enough pride in them to do all that they can to try and finish the season in a positive fashion.
The fans that have paid for tickets to watch the club deserve the same level of commitment to be shown in these last few games that was shown at any other stage of the season.
It is also important for morale going into the summer as preparations are made for next season. A positive finish to the campaign would give everyone a lift and would surely do no harm in relation to ticket sales for next season and also in terms of attracting potential investment.
At the start of the season the mood around the club amongst the fans was not particularly positive but changes made over the course of the campaign have seen things improve and the club has maintained a stable league position to date throughout 2008/09. With this in mind it would be disappointing if the team did not make an improvement on last seasons final points tally of 55, which saw them finish in 16th place.
