Club refutes claims
Sheffield Wednesday have acted swiftly to make a statement with regards to alegations against them made by Mansfield Town today.
The League Two club have announced that they have filed a report to the police and the F.A. of alleged racist abuse directed at their captain Krystian Pearce during their pre-season game against the Owls last Tuesday. Pearce clashed with Owls forward Fernando Forestieri towards the end of the game and following the final whistle scuffles broke out involving many players from both sides with Owls defender Tom Lees receiving a kick to the chest.
Wednesday's statement makes it clear that the club vehemently refute the allegations and will defend itself should they need to do so.
Both clubs have stated that they will not comment further for the time being with the matter now in then hands of the authorities.
