Owls make point as away improvement continues

Sheffield Wednesday recovered to claim a point at St Mary's Stadium on Saturday as the away form gradually starts to shown some signs of stability.

A poor start to the game saw the Owls go 1-0 down to Southampton early on and were thankful to get in only a goal behind a half-time.

Just as they did last week at home to Norwich the Owls produced a much improved display in the second half and finally got their reward with Marcus Tudgay's 87th minute equaliser and could easily have won the game ad they been more clinical.

The result means that Wednesday have collected four points from their last two away games and are unbeaten in three overall.

This coming week is an important one as they must surely look to capitalise on this recent run of form with two consecutive home games against fellow mid-table teams, QPR and Bristol City.

A tough trip to Cardiff follows these games but if Wednesday can maintain the home form that has seen them win six and lose just two league games at Hillsborough so far then they will go into the Cardiff game and subsequent Christmas period with confidence and it will also give the supporters, who have had little to cheer in the past couple of seasons, a major boost.
