Middlesbrough right-back Tony McMahon has returned to Hillsborough and is now set to complete the maximum length of 93 days allowed under the terms of the loan agreement.
McMahon had become a fixture in the Owls side before his first-half dismissal in the defeat at Barnsley, at which point he returned to the Riverside stadium. McMahon has now completed the three-match ban for that red card and with little prospect of breaking into the Middlesbrough side at the moment he has returned to S6.
The defender has 28 days remaining under the contract and so should be available for selection throughout November, taking in a handful of games.
Wednesday have been cautious with the return of first choice right-back Frank Simek. The American made a substitute appearance against Plymouth last midweek but was left out at Crystal Palace and the return of McMahon will ease the pressure on him as he approaches nearly 11 months since suffering his injury.
The loan spell of Stoke City utility defender Lewis Buxton has also been extended by the Owls and he will be with the club until mid-January, providing cover for a defence that has been hit by illness and injury of late.
