Brian Laws has moved to complete the signing of two players on the loan transfer deadline day. Warren Feeney comes to Hillsborough on a one-month deal from Championship rivals Cardiff City and midfielder Tom Soares joins the club from Premier League outfit Stoke City in a similar deal.
Laws has made no secret of his wish to bring in a striker in order to make the most of the Owls neat approach play and was said to be in talks with a young Premier League striker earlier in the week. Nothing came of that however and with frees-scoring Cardiff having plenty of attacking options Feeney became available.
The 28-year-old has scored 5 goals at international level for Northern Ireland but has had limited first team opportunities since joining the Welsh club. Last season during a loan spell at Dundee United he hit 6 goals in 22 games but injury once again curtailed his season.
Tom Soares first came to the limelight as a young midfielder for Crystal Palace and broke into the England under 21 side. He joined Stoke City in 2008 but has failed to establish himself as a first team player in the Premier League and has made les s than 10 appearances for the club to date. Soares had a short loan spell at Charlton last season.
At just 23-years-old the midfielder should still have plenty to offer and will be eager to re-establish himself and make his mark at Championship level where he has excelled in the past.
