Appeal against ban is lost
Sheffield Wednesday will be without diminutive forward Fernando Forestieri for 6 matches after the Football Association rejected his appeal against a 6-match ban.
The Owls were notified of the ban last month, at which point an appeal was lodged meaning that up until now, Forestieri has been available for selection. The decision to uphold the ban means that Forestieri will miss Wednesday's Championship matches against Huddersfield, Fulham, Wigan, Middlesbrough and Hull as well as the League Cup clash with Everton.
The ruling relates to a charge of using abusive and/or insulting language during the pre-season friendly against Mansfield in July 2018. Forestieri was banned for 3 matches last season following an initial investigation into incidents during the game but was found not guilty of racial abuse at Mansfield magistrates court in March.
