The lightning-quick winger has played every league game since arriving from The Valley and Paul Sturrock will be hoping to keep him at the club until the end of October.
With Wade Small being continually injured, Sam has stepped into the right-side of midfield berth and has put in some decent, although not earth-shattering performances.
But the Owls boss would like the player to stay at the club although the chances of that happening at the moment are unlikely.
He told the club's official site: "I've got to chat to the chairman and the board, and I've got to chat to Lloyd to see how he feels about things, and I've obviously got to talk to Charlton to see what they think.
"I think he's got real potential. But I think if he was a long-term player at this football club we'd have a very exciting player on our hands. But that's to be debated."
Meanwhile Yoann Folly is back in training but Sturrock will not be rushing him back for the weekend's visit of Derby County.
