Having signed a number of Portuguese based players last season and having a Portuguese manager at the helm has resulted in Sheffield Wednesday being linked to a number of players based in Portugal in the past couple of transfer windows.
The latest name to get linked with the Owls is Sporting CP's Ryan Gauld. The 20-year-old Scottish playmaker moved to the Lisbon giants in 2014 having attracted a lot of interest by making an impression at Dundee United.
He has however spent much of his time in Portugal playing for Sporting's 'B' team and he may be interested in a move to secure more regular first team football in a bid to enhance his chances of gaining full international caps.
Elsewhere, closer to home, Wednesday continue to be linked with Fulham striker Ross McCormack though Wednesday's opening fixture opponents Aston Villa are currently favourites to snap him up.
