Sheffield Wednesday have announced this evening that they have parted company with Head Coach Stuart Gray.
Gray took over as manager at Hillsborough when Dave Jones was sacked in December 2013, initially as caretaker before taking the job on a permanent basis in January 2014. Gray succeeded in leading the out of the Championship relegation zone that season and last season, in his first full season in charge he guided the Owls to a respectable 13th place finish.
Despite this rumours have linked Wednesday with a change of manager since the end of the season and a move towards a more attacking intent – no team in the football league scored less home goals than the Owls in 2014/15.
New Owls owner Dejphon Chansiri is aiming to take the club into the Premier League by 2017 and he has stated that he has made the decision to part company with Gray as a means to achieving this.
The ambitious chairman has been linked with the likes of Sven Goran Eriksson and Dan Petrescu recently.
