Sheffield Wednesday’s reward for victory over Oldham in the Capital One Cup on Monday evening is a 2nd round tie against Martin Jol’s Fulham side.
After an abject first half at Boundary Park the Owls were trailing 2-0 but a much improved second half display with goals from Jermaine Johnson, a brace from Chris O’Grady and a strike from Michail Antonio saw them triumph 4-2.
The tie at Hillsborough with take place during the week commencing 27th August and the Owls could well attract the TV cameras again with the match one of the most attractive at this stage of the draw.
The two sides last met in the 3rd round of the F.A. Cup in 2009 when Fulham edged out the Owls 2-1 at Hillsborough.
Wednesday are the only Sheffield side left in the competition at this early stage with neighbours Sheffield United suffering a disappointing home defeat to Burton Albion in the 1st round.
