The Owls got their goals from Deon Burton, Kenny Lunt and Jermaine Johnson and the squad looked sharp going into the game at Stoke on Saturday.
Wednesday could have scored more goals too and created good chances - something which will bode well for the trip to the Britannia.
Boss Brian Laws was happy with the performance - but also very happy with the mood in the camp.
He told the club's official site: "That's the pleasing thing for me, the fact that the players have been so upbeat. Under the circumstances they've been very positive. They understand it's not been an easy time, but have knuckled down.
"We are working extremely hard to put things right. It's been a good time to have the break because we've had a lot of injuries and it's allowed several players to get fit.
