Wednesday have won four of their last six games and turned their season around in the process, and their victory over the Dingles on Saturday has left them eight points away from the top seven.
But the Owls boss has told the players that they must win the majority of their remaining games if they have any hope of gunning for some post-season glory.
He said: "To have any chance we must win seven of our last ten games, it's a tall order."
With relegation-threatened teams like Stockport County, Grimsby Town, Notts County and Brentford to play, the run-in looks pretty good, although difficult trips to Luton Town and bogey team Blackpool could put a spanner in the works.
Many supporters though that Wednesday would bounce back from relegation at the first attempt, but cracking division two has been a lot harder than what many anticipated.
