Sheffield Wednesday have been drawn to face South Yorkshire rivals Rotherham United in the first round of the Carling league cup.
The match will take place in the week commencing 11th August at Hillsborough with Wednesday having been drawn at home and thus missing out on a rare opportunity to play at the Don Valley Stadium, the temporary home of the Millers.
The two met in the same round of the competition at Rotherham last season with the Owls running out 3-1 winners in a game that was televised by Sky Sports on a Thursday evening.
Wednesday will be hoping to improve on a poor recent home record against their local rivals as Rotherham have recorded two victories at Hillsborough in the league in consecutive seasons when they were last in the same division, both by two goals to one in February and August of 2002.
The Owls Coca-Cola Championship fixtures for the forthcoming season will be revealed on Monday.
