Centre-back moves to Blackpool
Sheffield Wednesday's January transfer window business has started early with the news that Jordan Thorniley has moved to Blackpool. The 23-year-old joined the Owls from Everton in 2016, initially settling in to the academy teams before moving up to the senior squad.
Thorniley made his debut in January 2018 and featured on 35 occasions for the Owls. The centre-back has been behind Dominic Iorfa, Julian Borner and Tom Lees in the pecking order at Hillsborough this season but hasn't looked out of place when called upon, it will be something of a surprise if he doesn't go on to be a success at League One level.
The transfer sees him make the move west on a permanent transfer having signed a 2-and-a-half year deal at Bloomfield Road.
