Sheffield Wednesday have now confirmed future dates for all four fixtures that they have had postponed over the holiday period.
Wednesday have been out of action since December 18th as burst pipes prevented them from playing their scheduled home games against Yeovil on December 28th and Peterborough on New Year’s Day. A frozen pitch also caused the postponement of their Boxing Day trip to Tranmere and the visit to Bournemouth, originally scheduled for January 8th has also had to be rearranged due to F.A. Cup commitments.
Yeovil will now come to Hillsborough on Tuesday January 25th and the Peterborough home game has been put back until Tuesday 15th March. The away games at Tranmere and Bournemouth will now take place on Tuesday 15th February and Tuesday 1st March respectively.
While the Owls have been sitting it out over Christmas some of their League One rivals have been slipping up. Many of the festive fixtures have been postponed but on Boxing Day 3rd placed Huddersfield lost at home to Hartlepool and they followed that up with a heavy defeat at Southampton, slipping to 4th place as a result. Charlton held leaders Brighton to a draw on Wednesday, a result that moved them up to third place, level on points with the Owls having played one game less.
Wednesday will look to get their promotion push back on track when they return to action at Huddersfield on January 3rd in front of the live SKY TV cameras.
