A well-earned point by Wednesday unfortunately pushed them two places down in the league tables but one thing is for sure – if that particular game took place earlier in the season – The Owls would have crumbled.
But it is to the player’s credit that they did not buckle under some of the pressure Town put Wednesday under and again Sturrock’s men put in a road performance which could have won the day if it was not for solid goalkeeping from Marlon Beresford.
The Owls boss said: “Some of the players might have proved a point to themselves. Maybe there is starting to be a belief about them.
“They are willing to learn now and listen. That was missing when I first came here. There is definitely a togetherness to bite and scratch for results.
“Then when you have ability, which we have, you become dangerous.”
The bad news though was Kenwyne Jones, Graeme Lee, Glenn Whelan and Matt Hamshaw all picked up knocks and will be touch and go for tomorrow’s game against Wrexham.
