Owls boss in line for award

Sheffield Wednesday boss Alan Irvine has been nominated for the Coca-Cola Championship manager of the month award for January.

Despite only taking the reigns at Hillsborough on the 8th of January his has had an immediate impact that has been recognised outside of S6 as well as by the Hillsborough faithful.

In his five matches in charge to date Irvine has led the Owls to four victories and steered them out of a relegation zone in which they were rooted in when he arrived.]

The four wins that he has presided over has doubled the number of Wednesday league victories this season, they had played twenty-three matches and won just four prior to his appointment.

Irvine faces stiff competition from Dave Jones of Cardiff, Nigel Adkins of Scunthorpe and Billy Davies of Nottingham Forest for the award with the winner with the winner to be announced on Sky Sports prior to Saturday’s afternoon kick-offs.
