Sheffield Wednesday will have to cope for with diminutive forward Fernando Forestieri, possibly for the remainder of 2017, due to a knee injury sustained in training last week.
The 27-year-old is expected to undergo surgery next week and as a result is expected to sit out at least 3 months. Forestieri has had a poor personal start to the season. Having spoken of his preference to play in attack, he started in that position on the opening day of the season as Wednesday suffered a 1-0 defeat. A bust up with Sam Winnall in training the resulted in an internal suspension of 2 games and when he returned to the starting line-up in the EFL Cup at Bolton the Owls slipped to their 2nd defeat of the season.
At his best Forestieri has proved he can be integral to the Owls success but they were able to win games without him last season and they will at least know where they stand for the next few months rather than having the uncertainty of him being potentially available but not necessarily on his best form.
