Sheffield Wednesday have once again signalled their intent for the season ahead, this time by securing the season-long loan signing of Alex Lopez.
The 27-year-old has recently signed a contract extension with parent club Celta Vigo but having only featured in around half of their matches last season – with half of those appearances coming from the bench, the midfielder has taken the opportunity to try and find more regular first team opportunities here in England.
As you would expect of a seasoned top flight Spanish player, Lopez is comfortable on the ball, with a good eye for a pass and he also has goals in his armoury.
Lopez was a regular in the Celta Vigo side when the won promotion to La Liga in 2011/12 and has since racked up close to 100 appearances in the top flight in Spain where his club have finished in the top half in the past two seasons.
