Sheffield Wednesday have moved to secure the services of centre-back Darryl Lachman from Dutch side FC Twente.
The 25-year-old has signed a 2-year contract at Hillsborough and will be looking to make a first-team impact. Tom Lees was outstanding for the Owls at centre-half last season and Lachman could prove to be an ideal partner for him with the injury prone Glenn Loovens as yet undecided on whether to sign a new deal with the Owls.
Lachman is an imposing defender who is said to be comfortable on the ball and prefers a composed, ball playing style of football.
Having initially started out in Ajax’s youth team Lachman went on to play for Groningen before making a real impression at PEC Zwolle, winning promotion to the top flight in 2011 and following that up with a memorable Dutch Cup victory last year.
His form earned him a move to FC Twente for whom he made 15 appearances last season.
