Sheffield United have announced that the Owls will again only receive an allocation of 3,000 for the forthcoming derby at Bramall Lane.
There were many complaints from Wednesday fans last season in relation the small allocation, poor segregation upon entering the ground and missiles being thrown down from home fans in the upper tier of the stand during the game.
Police advice has deemed that it is not possible to adequately segregate away fans in the upper tier from home fans in the new corner adjacent to this and so it has not been possible to allocate the Owls with any more tickets however, measures have been put in place in an attempt to prevent some of the problems that were evident from last seasons clash.
These include the 1st three rows of the upper tier of the Halliwells Stand being unsold, extra police and steward presence in this area and netting being erected to prevent objects dropping on to the Owls fans in the lower tier.
Wednesday are yet to release details of how the 3,000 tickets will be made available, last season a postal ballot was held with season ticket holders who had attended previous away games during the season taking priority.
The match on Saturday 7th February has also been brought forward to kick-off at 12 noon.
