The former Blackburn Rovers midfielder was one of Wednesday's most consistent players towards the back-end of last season and will be hoping to continue that form into the new campaign.
But after Saturday's 1-1 draw with Wilmington Hammerheads, The Owls will need to step up a gear when they take on the USL all star team this Wednesday and so far preparations are going well for the Scotsman.
He told the club's official site: "It has been very hot during training but the boys have been putting the effort in. They are getting a lot out of it, new fitness coach Adam Owen has been putting us through it so it has been very beneficial.
"You can only test your fitness in matches - you can run around pitches all day but won't know how fit you are until you get to the games."
