Sheffield Wednesday have made their fourth loan signing in just over a week by completing a move for Joey O’Brien on the emergency loan deadline day.
O’Brien previously made 15 appearances for the Owls during the Christmas period of the 2004/05 season, scoring twice and making a positive impression at the club.
Between 2005 and 2009 O’Brien, who has been capped 3 times by the Republic of Ireland, made 68 appearances for the Premier League club. Since then however his career has been hampered somewhat by a series of knee problems and he has not played a 1st team game in the past two seasons as a result.
The 25-year-old, who has worked under Owls manager Gary Megson during his spell at the Reebok Stadium, is eligible to play for Wednesday at Dagenham this weekend and will remain at the club until the end of the season.
