Sheffield Wednesday have responded to the news that top scorer Gary Madine faces six weeks on the sidelines with a broken toe by moving to sign Arsenal striker Sanchez Watt on an emergency loan deal.
The Londoner signed for Arsenal as a 16-year-old in 2007 and had a short spell on loan with Leeds United towards the back end of the 2009/10 season. Watt impressed enough in that spell to earn a season-long loan deal at Elland Road last season, making over 20 appearances for Simon Grayson’s side.
Watt is described as a speedy, skilful player who has been in impressive form for the Gunners reserve team this season, scoring 7 goals in 9 appearances. His contract at Hillsborough runs until 16th January.
