Sheffield Wednesday have added the promise of attacking purpose and a genuine goal threat from midfield by signing Lewis McGugan on a loan deal.
The Watford midfielder moves to Hillsborough on a contract that runs to 1st January 2015 and he is in line to make his debut in the televised Yorkshire clash with Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
The 26-year-old has struggled to gain a regular place in the Hornets side this season but his pedigree at this level is proven. McGugan came through the ranks at Nottingham Forest and made over 200 appearances for the club before making the move south. McGugan was Forest's top scorer in the 2010/11 season, bagging 13 goals and he weighed in with an impressive 11 goals in 37 games for Watford last season.
The move should be seen as a positive one for Stuart Gray's side as although the Owls have had a solid midfield base in front of their defence which has enabled them to be hard to beat this season they have lacked the creativity or a consistent goal threat from midfield to open up the opposition.
