Sheffield Wednesday got off to a great start in the Championship with a 1-0 win at Brighton on Saturday and a further boost came with the news that Scottish striker Stevie May has joined the club on a four-year deal.
The former St Johnstone striker moves to Hillsborough for a fee believed to be in the region of £800,000 and he has a proven pedigree for goals north of the border. May scored 27 times for St Johnstone last season in a campaign that saw the club lift the Scottish F.A. Cup for the first time in their history.
Prior to that the 21-year old had enjoyed hugely productive loan spells at Hamilton and Alloa and he boasts a very impressive record of 76 goals in 136 first team appearances in all competitions, including appearances as a substitute.
In speaking of his move as quoted on the St Johnstone official website May stated: “I'm delighted. Wednesday are a big club and it didn't take much persuasion for me to decide that they were the club to join.
May could make his Owls debut in the Capital One cup clash against Notts County on Tuesday evening.
