Sheffield Wednesday have had a significant boost ahead of the start of the Championship season with goalkeeper Keiren Westwood the latest player to agree terms on an extended contract at Hillsborough.
The Owls number one and Republic of Ireland international has signed a deal that commits his future to the club up to the summer of 2019.
Having signed for Wednesday on a free-transfer in 2014 the 31-year-old has been nothing short of a revelation, proving himself as one of the best goalkeepers outside the top flight. The Irish stopper won the Player-of-the-Year award in his first season at S6, helping the Owls to equal their all-time clean-sheet record for a single season, a feat which they went on to repeat last season.
Rumours this summer have linked Westwood with a move to the Premier League and so it will be a relief to many to see that he has signed this new contract.
