The former Rangers striker has only hit the net five times this season against Chester, Torquay, Huddersfield, Tranmere and Wrexham - an average return from the 17 games played so far this season.
Last season he was division three's leading scorer with Scunthorpe United, where he was on loan but his spirits are high despite not getting as many goals as he would have liked.
He told Footymad: "I have scored five goals this season but I could have easily have got 15 so far but I will keep plugging away.
"Every single striker goes through lean spells but I will keep getting into the positions, keep trying to hit the net and once that goal goes in I have every confidence more will come because we have some good players at this club, some good strikers too, and whoever I end up playing alongside I always endeavour to do my best and keep my confidence high."
In MacLean's defence, the entire Wednesday team have not scored that many goals yet - Adam Proudlock, Chris Brunt and Lee Peacock all have two each while defender Lee Bullen has three, but The Owls' current leading scorer says there's no excuses.
He added: "We can’t complain about the service from the likes of Chris Marsden, Chris Brunt, JP McGovern and Glenn Whelan as we always seem to get chances but we have to put them away more consistently."
And when all the players like Peacock who are currently in the treatment room come back it will make the job a lot easier according to the Scotsman.
He added: "We want all the players who are currently injured back with us. Peaks is a top player and an asset to the team without question so the sooner he is fit the better for the team.
