The Owls' star striker comes to the end of his three-year deal in the summer and although there have been rumours of a new deal for the Scotsman, nothing has been put on the table as of yet.
MacLean fired in his ninth of the season against Southend on Saturday after remaining cool from the spot deep into stoppage time although there's no doubt the former Rangers man has been frustrated this season for obvious reasons.
He told Footymad: "It's been a mixed season pretty much but ever time I am called upon, I will give 125percent for Sheffield Wednesday, for myself, for my family and for the punters and that's all I can do.
"At the end of the day all I can do is keep doing what I am doing by scoring goals and if Sheffield Wednesday want to offer me a contract, that's up to them but if they don't, well, I'm playing for my future elsewhere."
The 3-2 win over Steve Tilson's Shrimpers came as a welcome boost for everyone around Hillsborough after Wednesday got their first win of the year.
"We pretty much needed that win," MacLean admitted. "We have had a really bad run of late, the win has been a long time coming
- it wasn't perhaps the greatest performance but its three points in the bag and that will do nicely. We have a good bunch of lads at the club and we showed good character to come back from behind so we are pretty happy.MacLean himself though has now broken a club record after scoring the most consecutive penalties without missing one but this is not something he dwells on.
He added: "I couldn't tell you to be honest! I don't like talking about records to be honest but every time I get a penalty I hope I'll score it. The only thing on my mind is scoring, whatever distractions I get. Sometimes I will watch the keeper and sometimes I won't, I just pick my spot and thankfully it went in the bottom corner."
