Mac and Heck on Rovers win - exclusive

Goals from Lee Bullen and a first Owls strike from Drew Talbot gave Wednesday a 2-0 win over Rovers today without the home side looking like the league’s third best team.

Heckingbottom scored in the last home victory against
Peterborough – another game not for the football purists but at least it proves The Owls can get be resilient and win games at home – a far cry from earlier in the season.

He told Footymad: “I think we have done that well in the last two home games, especially against
Peterborough when we played better in the second half, we had a few chances, took one of them and could have had more, and the same could be said of today.

“Lee Peacock makes a difference and he gives us something which we have missed while he has been away and that has shown. In the last three games before today, he had scored three goals and set the second one up for Drew so long may it continue.”

MacLean added: “Not every single performance in a season will be a good one and you have to dig in sometimes and get the points – just like we did today. I am getting a few knocks in these derby games but that is to be expected but you just get on with it.”

On the return to form of his strike partner, the Scotsman said: “Peaks has been brilliant since he came back and I am really pleased for him because he has had a heap of bad luck but hopefully he can go on here and improve and get more goals for us.”
