Boyd looked to have no future at Hartlepool when he was loaded out to Boston last season but since then, he has come on leaps and bounds to become one of the best players in the division.
The striker scored a hat-trick against The Owls last month at a rainswept Victoria Park and also got two goals when United beat Tranmere in their first-leg clash last Friday.
Sturrock told the Star: "The boy Boyd will be buoyant that he is playing against Sheffield Wednesday. They have that kind of Indian sign over us - nothing but our best will win this game. We beat them 2-0 at home and played very well.
"It's an even game. Cup finals are always levellers. We should have decent conditions. I don't make excuse about the conditions when we lost at Hartlepool, we were rotten on the night. We also created a lot of chances, which augurs well."
