The former Hartlepool defender has not had many opportunities to shine under Paul Sturrock and the Owls boss would have released him if his contract expired before the end of this season.
Lee has been instrumental in helping Wednesday to victories against Doncaster, Walsall and Port Vale and now just wants to keep playing well to retain his place.
He told Footymad: "I am delighted to be back in the team and delighted about my form since I have returned and with the points we have got too. The Walsall game gave us lots of confidence as we now know we can hold on to leads at home.
"I have missed a lot of games because of my injuries and no one likes to be on the sidelines, I have been very down at times but with the change of manager, I have worked hard and got back to fitness.
"I have been a bit moody and grumpy while I was sitting at home in the house and the girlfriend was obviously not to pleased with that but when the lads are winning that does cheer me up and now I have got my chance I have to take it and hopefully we keep winning games."
Lee has been linked with a move to Sunderland for quite a long time now but his goals are making sure Wednesday are playing in the championship next season.
He added: "My goals for the new year are to be injury free and keep playing in a winning team which is hopefully good enough for Wednesday to get promotion.
"Being linked with moves away doesn't affect me as I want to be focussed on getting fully fit for Wednesday and playing - I am delighted just to just playing at the moment following the season which I have had so far!"
