The Owls boss has turned things around at Hillsborough and the fans have really warmed to him since his arrival from Scunthorpe United in November.
Footymad were lucky enough to speak to Laws about the progress the club have made and what we can look forward to next season.
Laws on the season…
"It's been a relatively good season for us and to see us so far up the league in ninth place is refreshing which gives us a lot of belief for next season and that's what we really want next year.
"If we can get a few decent signings in, we can certainly challenge the best of them because we are a good side, the players have shown that and they have also changed the mentality from thinking 'we just have to survive in the division because other teams are better than us' but they are not, and we have proved that."
Laws on his achievements so far…
"The objective when I came in was to give the supporters something really to shout about. We have to be consistent and we have been saying that there are 46 league games so let's give 46 games of honesty back to the supporters. They see that, they will go home happy whatever the result.
"I can only go on this since I have been here but the players have given absolutely everything they can give, and again given the supporters something to go home with a smile on their faces. I said before the Norwich game 'if we don't get a result today, your next result is three months away' and I didn't want to wait that long. So now we can all go home in a confident mood, look forward to next year and I think that's what we have achieved."
Laws on the players attitude...
"We have worked a hell of a lot on the mental side of the players, especially eradicating negativity, the fact that they didn't have belief in themselves; they are good players and they are underestimating their own abilities - that was the most important thing, the mindset of the players.
"We have always said that we are not talking about the opposition; we are talking about the players. We are a good team, we have good players and we can mix it with the best of them. The opposition are no different to the players and that has been emphasised to them a number of times.
"The results will obviously embellish that and give them confidence and it has shown; one defeat in 12 towards the end of the season is remarkable form and then the players think 'hold on a minute, we are decent players and we can play as well as anyone else'. Our run has given the players so much confidence and that has been a massive change."
Part two of the exclusive Brian Laws interview will be here tomorrow.
