Today is the last day for existing Sheffield Wednesday season ticket holders to purchase a 2008/09 season ticket at initial discount prices.
Once the renewal deadline has past tickets will be available at slightly higher prices for early bookings up until July 26th and this is followed by a week of general sale prices leading up to August 2nd.
Although traditionally the final day of renewal sales is the busiest, the general impression is that sales will be down on last year.
Having renewed myself last week, a group of people I was with enquired about moving seats to another area and they were told that we should be able to do so after the deadline has passed as many people have not taken up the renewal option to date.
Supporters have become increasingly disgruntled with the direction the club has been heading recently and it is thought that some were holding out for a positive decision on the takeover front before purchasing a ticket.
The pricing structure has also been a factor as hefty price increases on adult season tickets in all areas of the ground have put fans off. Blackburn Rovers and Aston Villa, both of whom finished in the top 8 in the Premier League last season offer cheaper adult season tickets than Sheffield Wednesday. Although these two will play 4 less home games than the Owls in the league this is still surprising given the difference in quality of the matches between the two levels.
