Sheffield Wednesday have confirmed that Jamaican international Jermaine Johnson has signed a contract to extend his stay at the club for another year. This news had been expected as the player had previously hinted he would be signing a new deal on his return from international duty and a pre-season holiday and Owls fans can now rest assured that this is formally the case.

JJ had a productive season back in the Championship last season and finished the campaign in fine form with his goals proving to be crucial in the Owls successful bid to maintain their Championship status. The 33-year-old featured 45 times last season, scoring 7 goals and he will be keen to pick up where he left off.

Johnson is the longest serving player currently at the club and has played well over 200 games for the Owls since signing up at Hillsborough back in 2007.
