Wednesday are unlikely to field the same starting eleven as they did at Burnley on Boxing Day as Wade Small, who hobbled out of that game before half-time is unlikely to feature. Utility man Steve Watson faces a fitness test to determine whether or not he has a part to play at the KC Stadium on Sunday.
On a brighter note the clubs' official website reports that strikers Francis Jeffers and Akpo Sodje may be fit to return to the squad. Wednesdays' recent poor run of form has coincided with the injury to Sodje, who had been in fine form during the Owls revival in November while Jeffers struck the only goal in the Owls first league win of the season, at home to Hull in September.
Given the period of time Jeffers has been out he is unlikely to start while Sodje may also have to settle for a place on the bench with boss Brian Laws unlikely to risk any further injuries to the front pair by rushing them back to the front line too soon.
That would mean Marcus Tudgay may retain his place up-front alongside Deon Burton, who struck his 100th career goal from the penalty spot in the Boxing day draw at
Jermaine Johnson, who missed the Boxing Day fixture, could return as Wednesday go in search of a victory over the Tigers that could provide some impetus to a floundering campaign, just as the 1-0 victory at Hillsborough against the same opposition did earlier in the season.
