The former Bradford defender could not believe his eyes when he saw The Bees get two goals in a three-minute spell to turn the game yesterday on it’s head.
He exclusively told Footymad: “We are devastated. We go 1-0 up through a penalty and with them having ten men we wanted to push on but the reverse happened and we seemed to slow down, we lost our tempo and gave them a foothold back into the game.
“We were on top in the second half, not at our best but we were on top but a team will always get some sort of chance in a game so they took that and then I don’t know if we were too desperate to get back in front as we threw everyone forward, we left two at the back but they broke, we missed a tackle and then they just defended for their lives.”
On the club’s poor home form he says: “We heard about this supposed Hillsborough hoodoo before we signed and you can see why now. If we hadn’t thrown silly points away at home we would be top of the league at the moment and we are desperate to put it right. This should be a great place to play and should be a massive advantage for us but we just can’t get it right.”
When asked about whether the fans can sometimes get too critical, he believes that that should spur the players on rather than hamper them.
He added: “When I was at Darlington, it is a lot better than 2000 fans booing you and you can hear every single word of what they are saying so I don’t see it that way as it should be good to play in front of big crowds, that’s one of the reasons I came here so it should be a big boost for us.”
